Become someone's Guardian Angel
The Guardian Angel program seeks donors to help make it possible for deserving Catholic students to attend St. Michael school--to become, in effect, their "guardian angel."
How can I become a Guardian Angel for a student?
If you'd like to become a guardian angel or talk more about it, call Jenny Kopf, our Director of Advancement, at
. Or, you can make a direct gift to "The Guardian Angel Scholarship Fund" by check (St. Michael Catholic High School, 11732 St. Michael Way, Fairhope, AL 36532) or by contributing on-line (either monthly or one time) at the link to the left.
How does a student become a recipient of Guardian Angel support?
First, a student must apply and get accepted to the school. Then, his or her parents must apply for financial assistance through normal process. The school will then assist families with demonstrated need as best it can, using monies raised through its annual fund and other philanthropic efforts.
Often, what the school can do is not quite enough. This is where the Guardian Angel fund comes into play. If Catholic, parents must meet with their pastor to ask for additional assistance through the Guardian Angel fund. Pastors then talk with the principal, and then ask him to transfer needed monies into the student's account. Pastors decide on Guardian Angel allocations, as the fund represents the efforts of Catholic churches to help Catholic families.
It is important to understand that no student attends St. Michael "for free." Families must be willing to sacrifice as much as they are able, even while the school and guardian angels will do what they can to help that family.
All gifts to the Guardian Angel program are tax deductible; acknowledgment of the gift is sent to the donor for his or her records.
